Romans
I’m not sure if you have ever read the Book of Romans before, but I tell you this. Its powerful.
For the next forty days of Lent, I plan to study, and dig into Romans. I’ve heard from many people, that this book is powerful. Yes, every book of the bible is powerful but each has their own teachings. And God laid it on my heart to read this while taking a fast from Facebook.
I started today by reading Chapter 1. I figured, why not read one chapter a day, for the first 15 days. Then go back through and start picking out different things.
So far i read all of chapter 1, and i’m not sure if you have read the part in there where it talks about “God’s anger against sin”…well its convicting.
We go each day as Christians disobeying God, and sinning…We learn in the first parts of becoming a Christian; Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and even though we sin, if we confess with our mouths, and believe it in our hearts, we can be saved, and have eternal life. But have you ever read how God really feels about it?
Romans 1:21-32 goes into complete depth of what we are doing, and the choices us as Christians make each day. “They began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their mind became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. Instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals”
We sit here day in and day out worshiping idols. Those get us no where. We are to put our hearts, and souls in to God. Not into things of the world. A question that runs through my mind is, why is it we put idols over God, when God can provide so much more for us, than those idols? Why do we seek things for ourselves, when God has the most PERFECT timing to bring them into our lives.
We have a God who loves us so much. Loves us more than any earthly person. So as a challenge to myself and you, put your trust in him. Don’t seek things of the world. SEEK HIM!
